Being a Christian monk, Valentine violated the government's order by being the chief witness of marriages. Valentine was found guity and rumored that he was purged on the 14th of February in 269. From then on, in order to praise for Valentine who sacrificed himself for Roman couples, 14 February became Valentine's Day.
