What is the booking process like?

After completing payment, you will receive a payment confirmation email. Toby will then start to match you with an available Pro tailored to your service goals. Once we find the right match, you will receive a booking success confirmation email. In the case that Toby cannot find an available Pro, you will receive an email for an unsuccessful booking. Your authorized payment will be refunded back to your original form of payment shortly after.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

For the safety and health of our clients, cleaners can only take orders after we verify that they have not been to mainland China in the past 14 days and that they will wear a mask during services. In order to prevent the spread of the virus, we strongly recommend clients who have been to mainland China in the past 14 days or have COVID-related symptoms (e.g. fever, cough, sore throat, etc.) to seek medical consultation and self-quarantine at home. Please do not arrange for any home services during this time. Reach out to our support team to reschedule any previously scheduled appointments and we will waive all administrative fees for you. The safety of our clients and cleaners is our first priority.

Can I cancel or modify the booking after purchasing?

Service times and dates can be modified, but they will be subject to the following terms: we only accept modification requests during our regular business hours at least one business day prior to service date. There is a $50 administrative fee per service modification.
Cancellation requests must be made during our regular business hours one business day prior to service date. There is a $100 cancellation fee for all valid cancellation requests.
No refund will be issued if cancellation requests are received on the service date or after our office hours on the business day prior to the service date. 
*The above terms are not applicable to the office cleaning monthly plan, pest control service, carpet cleaning, leather renew, rug cleaning, and laundry services. Please kindly refer to these specific services' terms and conditions for more information.

Do your Pros have insurance?

HelloToby has purchased a basic insurance plan for all home service personnel. However, since we are a platform matching jobs for service providers, we recommend that you purchase the insurance for Pros according to the Employees' Compensation Ordinance.

Any expiry date for service packages?

Yes, expiry dates for service packages can be found in your package details. After purchasing the package, all services should be used before the expiry date or they will be forfeited.

3-time: within 3 months
12-time: within 6 months
24-time: within 12 months

Will the cleaner bring their own cleaning supplies?

We strongly recommend purchasing and providing cleaning supplies for the cleaner. Otherwise, you may be responsible for paying back the purchases made by your cleaner, and an additional hour will be enforced on top of the total cleaning time in order to compensate for the time spent purchasing the supplies.

Reminder before service provider comes

Please kindly pay attention to the door bell or phone notifications to ensure that you can open the door for our service providers. If customers fail to open the door on time, our service providers will wait nearby for 45 minutes. If customers still fail to open the door for the service provider after 45 minutes, the service providers have the right to leave and terminate the service. If customers answer the door after the first 45 minutes, the service providers will continue to provide services according to the original time slots. No refund or rescheduling will be accepted for the above situations. For any service modification, please kindly contact us at 3703 3250 during our business hours at least one business day before the service date.

How do I choose between independent cleaners and cleaning companies? How to choose the most suited home cleaning services?

The fees for home cleaning are charged on an hourly basis. For home cleaning service on a smaller scale, the cost of hiring a part time cleaner is more or less the same as hiring a cleaning company.

Do I have to purchase Workers' Compensation Insurance for the part time helper?

According to Section 40 of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance, all employers (including contractors and sub-contractors) are required to take out insurance policies to cover their liabilities both under the Ordinance and at common law for injuries at work in respect of all their employees, irrespective of the length of employment contract or working hours, full-time or part-time, permanent job or temporary employment. An employer who fails to comply with the Ordinance to secure an insurance cover commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a maximum fine of HK$100,000 and imprisonment for two years.

What kind of preparations should be done prior to cleaning?

We recommend that homeowners try to move clutter, dirty clothes, rubbish, etc. elsewhere for the convenience of the cleaner to manage the cleaning process. To avoid any possible theft, all valuables like jewellery should be locked in a place that cannot be accessed by the cleaner. Please kindly store important documents and differentiate from other scrap paper. All pets and plants should be placed properly for the convenience of the cleaner.

Also, the client should notify the cleaner of areas or rooms that are expected to be cleaned and any restricted area(s). Home cleaners may bring their own cleaning detergents so please check for any potential allergies before cleaning.
